ELITE have both male and female driving instructors providing driving lessons in the Wimbeldon and Streatham area of South West London and surrounding areas. All of our instructors teach people how to be safe and competent drivers, not just how to pass the test. They all have expert knowledge of the best training areas to take pupils so that throughout the course of their lessons pupils comprehensively cover the full syllabus, and as a result have a pass rate far above the national average. We always have great introductory offers to welcome new pupils, and very competitive on-going offers.

Beginner Driving Lessons
For complete beginners to start driving lessons in Streatham they are normally taken to the Hyde Farm area and roads like Telferscot Road to to learn the basics before being taken out onto the busier roads. To the south of the postcode area there are more suitable roads available. Close to Wimbledon is the Dorset Road area, and in Raynes Park the Cambridge Road area has many wide roads, quiet junctions, and gradients to practice clutch control and master the basics. These areas can then be gradually expanded to incorporate more involved topics.
You will normally be introduced to the manoeuvres in about lessons 6 to 7. This will however vary from pupil to pupil as everyone progresses at a different rate, and the area in which you are taking lessons may influence this, as situations may occur that need to be dealt with. Being a heavily populated and busy area this may be the case. Your instructor will tailor the order in which subjects are covered to help you to progress through the subjects as quickly, but as safely as possible. In the Streatham area roads commonly used for reversing are Emmanuel Road and Radbourne Road. In the Raynes Park area roads commonly used for the turn in the road, corner reverse and parking exercises include the Cottenham Park Road and Melbury Gardens area.
Being a London Borough, as you would expect the roads around this area are fairly busy. So your driving lessons will include awareness, planning and anticipation from a very early stage. Your instructor will teach you the importance of using your mirrors effectively so that you are aware of what is happening behind you and alongside your vehicle, and how that will influence your response to hazards in front of the vehicle. Roads that require particularly good awareness include the Streatham High Road, Tooting High Street, and Norbury High Street.
As required for 10 minutes of the driving test, your instructor will teach you how to drive independently by either following a series of verbal directions, following simple maps, and following road signs to set destinations. An example of this could be to 'follow the A217 towards London', or 'follow the A216 towards Streatham'.
Our driving instructors normally recommend pupils take two-hour lessons as they are far more productive than just one hour at a time, as more repetition can take place on each topic, and topics can seamlessly merge into each other rather than the student having to recap and warm up at the start of each lesson. However, we will accommodate single-hour, one-and-a-half hour, or intensive driving lessons in the Streatham and Norbury area to suit an individual's needs and requirements.
